Tal Travel Gal | 5 Best Things To Do When Visiting Tennessee
Written By Talitha Koger
Hey there, fellow travel lovers.
It’s your girl Tal, The Travel Gal, and today we’re diving deep into the heart of Tennessee—a state that’s got more charm than a Southern belle at a bluegrass festival— my home state. From smoky mountains to toe-tapping tunes, Tennessee is a treasure trove of adventures just waiting for you! So grab your cowboy hat, and let’s saddle up for the five best things to do in this fabulous state!
1. Gatlinburg: The Gateway to the Smokies 🏞️
First stop, Gatlinburg! If you’re into stunning mountain views, cozy cabins, and a dash of kitsch, this place is calling your name! Start your day with a hearty breakfast at my favorite place, Pancake Pantry—think fluffy pancakes and crispy bacon! Or my favorite “The Peach Delight.” Don’t forget to visit the village. Then, get your nature fix at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Whether you’re hiking up to Clingmans Dome for a panoramic view that’ll make your heart sing or just wandering along a gentle trail, the beauty here is unbeatable. Pro tip: Don’t forget your camera—those Insta-worthy shots won’t take themselves!
2. Pigeon Forge: Dolly, Dollywood, and Deliciousness! 🎡
Next up, let’s hop over to Pigeon Forge, home of the one and only Dollywood! 🎢 This theme park is like a love letter to the Smoky Mountains, filled with thrilling rides, live music, and enough food to make you loosen your belt a notch (or three). Start your day with a wild ride on the Lightning Rod roller coaster, then cool down with some homemade fudge. And if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of Dolly Parton herself—she’s practically a legend around here! 💖
3.Nashville: Music City Magic 🎸
Now, folks, you can’t visit Tennessee without stopping by Nashville! Known as Music City, it’s a place where the tunes are as sweet as the tea. Head to the iconic Broadway Street, where honky-tonk bars spill out live music and good vibes. Swing by the Grand Ole Opry to catch a show, or explore the Country Music Hall of Fame to soak in some serious musical history. And don’t forget to grab some hot chicken from Hattie B’s—your taste buds will thank you! I go there often for work. My boss owns the second oldest business in the state Geny’s Flowers. Don’t forget when you are there to stop in for a boquet of roses or a unique gift.
4. Chattanooga: A Riverfront Wonderland 🌊
Next, let’s make our way to Chattanooga, where the river meets adventure! Take a stroll along the beautiful riverfront, and if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, hop on a bike and tackle the Tennessee Riverwalk! Need a little thrill? Check out the Incline Railway, which takes you up Lookout Mountain for breathtaking views. And for the ultimate chill time, relax at Coolidge Park, where you can splash around in the fountains or enjoy a leisurely picnic. 🧺 I do love Chattanooga, don’t forget to visit the Aquarium too.
5. Memphis: The Home of the King 🎤
Last but certainly not least, we’re heading to Memphis! Get ready to immerse yourself in the rich history of blues and rock ‘n’ roll. A visit to Graceland is a must if you want to see how the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll lived! And while you’re in the area, don’t skip Beale Street, where the nightlife is as vibrant as a neon sign! Enjoy live music, grab some BBQ (trust me, you haven’t lived until you’ve tried Memphis-style ribs), and dance the night away under the stars. 🌟 To be honest, I’ve never been here, so it’s not a personal favorite.
Wrapping It Up! 🎉
So there you have it, fellow travelers: Tennessee in a nutshell! Whether you’re hiking in the Smokies, singing along in Nashville, or chowing down in Memphis, this state has something for everyone. So pack your bags, your sense of adventure, and let Tennessee sweep you off your feet! Until next time, happy travels! ✈️💖
